As a massage therapist in Kalispell, I often suggest self-care tools to my clients. I LOVE foam rollers, my favorite self-massage tool. These things are an amazing way to break up trigger points, promote myofascial release, and are also a great workout accessory. You can get a great core workout with a foam roller. I was first introduced to them in massage therapy school here in Kalispell, Mt.; I remember how brutal it seemed on my IT band. Not just for physical therapists anymore, foam rollers are in gyms, chiropractor offices, and my family room. For self-care, I mainly use it on my back, calves, and quads. I’ll often get some adjustments in my spine when I start with it near my head, and slowly roll it towards my pelvis. Foam rollers are available at places like Target and Walmart, be sure to get one that’s super dense, the squishier, softer ones break down quickly. ROLL ON BABY!
